Ottmar Hitzfeld was one of Bayern Munich’s greatest coaches. He took charge in 1998 and again from 2007 to 2008, bringing calm authority, tactical intelligence, and consistent success. Bayern credit him with winning five Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals, the 2001 Champions League, the 2001 Intercontinental Cup, and the 2007 League Cup. The club also says he coached more competitive matches than any other Bayern manager, with 444, and recorded the most wins, with 268. Hitzfeld was not just a trophy-winning coach; he helped shape one of Bayern’s most successful modern eras and is remembered as a central figure in the club’s rise as a European powerhouse.
