Bayern Munich’s 1974 European Cup win was the club’s first and a turning point in its history. The final against Atlético Madrid in Brussels was played over two matches: the first ended 1–1 after extra time, with Hans-Georg Schwarzenbeck scoring a dramatic equaliser in the 119th minute after Atlético had led through Luis Aragonés. Two days later, Bayern dominated the replay 4–0, with two goals each from Uli Hoeneß and Gerd Müller. It gave Bayern their first European Cup and started the famous run of three straight titles from 1974 to 1976 under Udo Lattek.
