Víctor Valdés was Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper through the club’s dominant modern era, starring from 2002 to 2014. Not the most spectacular pure shot-stopper, he was vital to Barça’s identity because he played like an extra outfield player—calm under pressure, sharp in short passing, and comfortable holding a high line behind the defence. He was the No.1 for the Guardiola peak, winning 3 Champions Leagues (2006, 2009, 2011), multiple La Liga titles, and the 2009 sextuple. He also won several Zamora Trophies for best goals-against record in La Liga.
