César Rodríguez Álvarez was Barcelona’s dominant post-war goalscorer and the club’s record scorer for decades until Lionel Messi broke it in 2012. He played for Barça from 1939–1955 (with wartime loan spells), featuring in 351 official matches and scoring 232 goals—including 190 in 287 La Liga games. During the “Barça of the Five Cups” era, he helped win five La Liga titles and multiple domestic trophies, and he won the Pichichi in 1948–49. Renowned as an instinctive finisher, he was also famous for scoring directly from corners.
