Gerard Piqué’s Barcelona career (2008–2022) made him one of the club’s defining modern centre-backs: calm in possession, strong in the air, and crucial to building play from the back in Guardiola’s system. He returned from Manchester United in 2008 and became a cornerstone of an era that won everything, including the 2009 and 2015 Champions Leagues and multiple La Liga titles. Piqué also delivered big moments himself—important headed goals in Clásicos and Champions League ties—and finished as a senior leader and captain before retiring mid-season in November 2022.
