Mark Hughes joined Barcelona in 1986 from Manchester United, arriving with a big reputation but never fully settling in La Liga. He played 28 league matches and scored 4 league goals for Barça, often used across the front line, before being loaned to Bayern Munich (1987–88). In May 1988 he returned to Manchester United, where he hit his peak years and became a central figure in their trophy-winning sides.
