Steve Archibald joined Barcelona from Tottenham in 1984 and became a significant, if sometimes overlooked, British import in mid-80s Spain. In his first season he helped Barça win La Liga (1984–85)—their first league title in 11 years—and finished third in the Pichichi scoring race. His Barcelona spell is generally listed as 1984–1988, with 55 league games and 24 league goals. He was also part of the squad that reached the 1986 European Cup final (lost on penalties to Steaua).
