Alan Forrest came through the Ayr United youth system and developed into an important attacking player during the club’s rise under Ian McCall; the younger brother of Scotland international James Forrest, Alan was known for his pace, direct running and ability to score from midfield, playing a significant role as Ayr won the League One title in 2017–18 and subsequently challenged near the top of the Championship; after more than 200 appearances for his hometown club, he left Somerset Park for Livingston in 2020.
