Scott Brown became Ayr United manager/head coach on 24 January 2024, replacing Lee Bullen, and arrived at Somerset Park with Steven Whittaker as his assistant. He signed a deal running to at least summer 2026, tasked with pushing an ambitious club up the Championship and building a long-term culture. In his first half-season (2023–24), Ayr finished 7th in the Scottish Championship after Brown took over mid-campaign.
