Harry Kewell for Australia was talent, imagination, and slightly bittersweet greatness. At his best, he looked like the most naturally gifted Socceroo of his generation: explosive off the left, technically sharp, and capable of turning a match with one run, one pass, or one finish. He won 58 caps and scored 17 goals, playing at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and helping Australia win the 2004 OFC Nations Cup while reaching the 2011 Asian Cup final. He also scored the goal against Croatia that sent Australia into the knockout stage in 2006. Kewell’s Australia legacy is huge: brilliant, injury-hit, and still one of the country’s finest footballers.
