Unai Emery has been Aston Villa’s head coach since October 2022, and he’s the key figure behind their jump into the Premier League elite. He imposed a clear identity—high defensive line, aggressive pressing triggers, and a well-drilled offside trap—while improving individuals and squad mentality. His impact showed massively in 2023–24: Villa finished 4th and clinched Champions League qualification (their first return to Europe’s top competition in decades). Villa also reached the Europa Conference League semi-finals, losing to Olympiacos over two legs. Villa extended Emery’s contract to 2027 in April 2024.
