Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s Arsenal stint (2018–2020) started with real spark after arriving in January 2018 as part of the swap deal that sent Alexis Sánchez to Manchester United. He impressed early—most notably a debut start with three assists vs Everton—and offered clever link play, quick combinations, and end product from the right or as a No.10. But injuries and inconsistency stopped him becoming a nailed-on starter under Unai Emery. A major talking point was the 2019 Europa League final in Baku, which he missed due to safety concerns as an Armenian player. He went on loan to Roma in September 2019, then left permanently after his Arsenal contract was ended by mutual consent in August 2020.
