Highbury (officially Arsenal Stadium) was Arsenal’s iconic home in north London from 1913 to May 2006—tight, intense, and famed for its closeness to the pitch. By the end it held 38,419 fans (its peak crowds were far bigger in the pre-all-seater era). The ground’s personality came from classic stands like the North Bank and Clock End, plus the Art Deco East/West Stand façades. Arsenal’s final match there was 7 May 2006 vs Wigan, sealed by a Thierry Henry hat-trick. Afterward, the site became Highbury Square—apartments built around a central garden where the pitch used to be, with key historic elements preserved.
