Arbroath’s 36–0 win over Bon Accord is the most famous scoreline in Scottish football. It came in the Scottish Cup first round on 12 September 1885 at Gayfield Park. Bon Accord were an Aberdeen club better known as a cricket side, and the mismatch was brutal: 15–0 at half-time and 36 by the end. Arbroath forward John (Jock) Petrie scored 13—still a record haul in the match—and reports say the ref even disallowed seven more. The same day, Dundee Harp won 35–0 vs Aberdeen Rovers.
