In the 2023–24 SPFL Trust Trophy (Scottish Challenge Cup), Airdrieonians lifted the silverware with a 2–1 win over The New Saints at the Falkirk Stadium on 24 March 2024, watched by just over 3,000 fans. The Welsh champions went ahead through Jordan Clark on 12 minutes, but Airdrie hit back—Liam McStravick equalised after 22 minutes, and Nikolay Todorov converted a penalty midway through the second half. Managed by Rhys McCabe, Airdrie showed organisation and resilience to claim their fourth Challenge Cup triumph and first since 2001. The victory capped a strong campaign and extended McCabe’s remarkable rise as player-manager.
