Airdrieonians’ 1992–93 season was a tough comedown. Under manager Alex MacDonald at Broomfield Park, they finished 12th (bottom) in the Scottish Premier Division and were relegated, posting 6 wins, 17 draws and 21 defeats (35 scored, 70 conceded). Cup runs were brief: a League Cup second-round exit after losing 3–2 to Stranraer, and a Scottish Cup third-round elimination by Clydebank (0–0 then 2–0 in the replay). In Europe, they went out 3–1 on aggregate to Sparta Prague in the Cup Winners’ Cup. Attendance swung from 12,514 vs Rangers to 1,494 vs Stranraer. It proved their only European run in history.
