Rui Costa was AC Milan’s elegant creator in the early 2000s. Signed in 2001 after seven impressive years at Fiorentina, he brought vision, technique, passing range, and calm control between midfield and attack. Milan’s official legends profile says that in his three seasons with the club he won a Scudetto, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup. He was not the most explosive player, but he gave Milan class and intelligence in possession, fitting perfectly into Carlo Ancelotti’s technical side alongside Pirlo, Seedorf, and Kaká. Rui Costa is remembered as one of Milan’s most refined playmakers of that era.
