Carlo Ancelotti is one of AC Milan’s defining modern figures because he mattered both as a player and as a coach. As a midfielder under Arrigo Sacchi, Milan’s official legends page says he was central to the all-conquering side that won back-to-back European Cups in 1989 and 1990. Later, as manager from 2001, he led Milan into another golden era. The club’s history credits him with two Champions League titles, in 2003 and 2007, and notes that in five seasons Milan also reached another final, a semi-final, and a quarter-final in Europe. Calm, tactically flexible, and elite in big games, Ancelotti became one of Milan’s true icons.
