Stan Cullis is arguably the most important figure in Wolves history. First a player and captain, he later became manager in 1948 and led the club through its greatest era. Under Cullis, Wolves won three First Division titles and two FA Cups, establishing themselves as one of England’s strongest sides in the 1950s. He was central to the famous floodlit matches at Molineux that helped raise Wolves’ international profile and fed into the early idea of European club competition. For Wolves, Cullis is more than a manager — he is the architect of the club’s golden age.
