Vinny Sullivan was one of the key forwards of the Waterford United era in the 2000s. A Dungarvan-born striker, he joined Waterford in 2002 after spells in Scotland and made an immediate impact, scoring 13 goals as they won the 2002–03 First Division title. He had several spells with the club and became closely associated with them through goals, work rate and local identity. He also helped Waterford reach the 2004 FAI Cup final, and later returned again after a season with Cork City. In simple terms, Sullivan was a reliable, well-known scorer who became one of Waterford’s most familiar attacking figures.
