Barry Ferguson was a combative central midfielder who won 45 senior caps for Scotland from 1998–2009, scoring 3 goals. A key figure from his Rangers F.C. peak years, he became a regular starter and was often trusted with the captain’s armband, including during the memorable Euro 2008 qualifying run (notably the famous win in Paris in September 2007). His international career ended in 2009 after disciplinary issues while on duty led to Scotland no longer selecting him.
