Davie Cooper was one of Scotland’s most naturally gifted wingers: a left-footed dribbler and crosser who brought flair and unpredictability from wide areas. He made his Scotland debut against Peru in September 1979, and while his early international appearances were sporadic, he became a key option in the mid-1980s. Overall he won 22 caps and scored 6 goals, and he played twice at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. At club level he was best known for starring with Rangers F.C. and later Motherwell F.C.
