Ibrox Stadium is the historic home of Rangers, located on Edmiston Drive in the Ibrox area of Glasgow. Opened on 30 December 1899, it’s now an all-seater ground with a capacity of about 51,700, making it Scotland’s third-largest football stadium.
The stadium’s most famous architectural feature is the red-brick Main Stand (Bill Struth Main Stand), designed by Archibald Leitch and later Category B listed (the listing applies to the stand).
Ibrox’s history includes major redevelopments—especially after the 1971 Ibrox disaster, which drove a modern rebuild into a safer all-seated stadium in the late 1970s/early 80s, with further expansion via the Club Deck in 1991 and more recent work on the Copland Stand.
