Bob (Robert) McKinlay was a long-serving Nottingham Forest centre-half and one of the club’s great one-club men. He came through Forest’s youth setup and played first-team football from 1951 to 1969, becoming the club’s record appearance holder (often listed as 614 league games and 692 in all competitions). He was a key figure in Forest’s 1959 FA Cup triumph and is also remembered for his durability, including a run of 265 consecutive top-flight matches between 1959 and 1965.
