Kevin Keegan is one of Newcastle United’s biggest legends in two eras: as a player and as a manager. As a player (1982–1984), he arrived as a superstar, lifted the club, and helped drive promotion back to the First Division in 1983–84, becoming a symbol of ambition on Tyneside. As manager (1992–1997), he rescued Newcastle from the old Second Division, won promotion in 1992–93, then built “The Entertainers” – a thrilling side featuring Ginola, Beardsley, Ferdinand and later Shearer. They finished second in the Premier League in 1995–96 after leading the title race, and Keegan’s passionate reign became iconic even without a trophy.
