Michael Higdon’s Motherwell spell (2011–2013) was the peak of his career: a classic target-man striker who mixed smart movement with ruthless finishing. He signed in June 2011 and quickly became the focal point of Stuart McCall’s attack at Fir Park. The defining year was 2012–13, when he smashed 26 league goals to win the SPL/Scottish Premiership Golden Boot and was voted PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year, while helping Motherwell finish second. He left in summer 2013, but that season is still remembered as one of the most prolific by a Motherwell striker in the modern era.
