Steven Hammell — one of Motherwell’s modern greats. A left-back and academy product, he had two spells at Fir Park (1999–2006, 2008–2018) and is the club’s post-war record appearance holder with 583 games. He also set a club benchmark in Europe, making 23 continental appearances, and was inducted into Motherwell’s Hall of Fame. Internationally, he earned one Scotland cap (2004). After retiring, he became academy director, then stepped up to first-team boss—appointed permanent manager in Aug 2022—before departing in Feb 2023.
