Mikaël Silvestre at Manchester United (1999–2008) was a classic Ferguson-era squad cornerstone: athletic, versatile, and trusted across the back line. Signed from Inter, he played mainly left-back and centre-back, offering pace, strength in the air, and a calm ability to step out with the ball. He wasn’t flawless—occasional lapses crept in—but he was hugely useful across long seasons because he could cover multiple roles without drama. Silvestre won a big stack of honours, including five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a League Cup, and the 2008 Champions League. His United story ended with the surprise move to Arsenal in 2008.
