Peter Schmeichel at Manchester United (1991–1999) was the defining goalkeeper of the Premier League’s first decade: a huge presence, elite shot-stopper, and a one-man organiser who basically ran the defence. He combined brutal command of his box (claiming crosses, dominating set pieces) with reflex saves and lightning throws/kicks that launched counterattacks. He was also a big-moment monster: crucial saves in title run-ins, penalty stops, and that iconic leadership in the 1998–99 Treble season—captaining United in the Champions League final. Loud, fearless, and built for pressure, he set the standard for modern United keepers.
