Paul Ince at Manchester United (1989–1995) was the snarling heartbeat of Fergie’s early winners. A powerful box-to-box midfielder, he mixed relentless pressing and crunching tackles with surprisingly sharp passing and driving runs through the middle. He was part of the core that ended United’s long title wait, winning the 1992–93 Premier League, then the 1993–94 Double (league + FA Cup). Ince also helped set United’s new edge—streetwise, confrontational, hard to play against—earning the nickname “The Guv’nor.” He left in 1995 for Inter, but his intensity and authority were foundational in United’s rise.
