Oleksandr Zinchenko’s Man City spell (2016–2022) was the ultimate “Pep project”: a natural midfielder turned into a smart, possession-heavy left-back. Signed from Ufa as a teenager, he spent a season on loan at PSV, then came back and reinvented himself—tucking inside in build-up, helping City control midfield zones, and offering calm technical quality under pressure. He wasn’t always a starter, but he was trusted in big runs because he understood the system. He left in 2022 for Arsenal to become a main man, after winning multiple Premier Leagues and cups with City.
