Samir Nasri’s Man City spell (2011–2017) was a tale of silk and stop-start momentum. Signed from Arsenal in 2011, he hit the ground running (three assists on debut vs Spurs) and won the 2011–12 Premier League in his first season. At his best he was a glidey connector in the half-spaces—quick combinations, sharp final balls—and he peaked in City’s 2013–14 title season, adding a League Cup too. Injuries and form dips reduced his role later on, he went on loan to Sevilla in 2016–17, and left in 2017 (176 games, 27 goals).
