Steve Nicol at Liverpool (1981–1994) was the ultimate dependable pro: versatile, tough, and consistently top level through one of the club’s most successful eras. Naturally a right-back, he also played left-back and even centre-back, trusted because he was quick, aggressive in duels, and positionally sharp. Nicol captained the side at times and had a knack for popping up with important goals despite being a defender. His trophy haul is massive: 5 league titles, 3 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, and the 1984 European Cup. Not the flashiest name, but a genuine Liverpool great—reliable every week, in any role.
