Gary McAllister’s Liverpool spell (2000–2002) was short but huge. Signed on a free at 35, he brought calm leadership, set-piece mastery, and big-game composure to Houllier’s side. He played a key role in the 2000–01 treble season and produced moments that live forever: the stoppage-time 44-yard free-kick winner at Everton and a decisive penalty vs Barcelona in the UEFA Cup semi. Officially he finished with 87 appearances and 9 goals, leaving as a cult hero.
