George Kay was Liverpool manager from 1936 to 1951 and is best remembered as the man who guided the club through wartime disruption into post-war success. His crowning achievement was winning the First Division title in 1946–47, Liverpool’s first league crown since the 1920s and the first after World War II. He also took Liverpool to the 1950 FA Cup final (their first in 36 years), though they lost to Arsenal. Off the pitch, his legacy includes key signings like Billy Liddell, plus additions such as Bob Paisley and Albert Stubbins, shaping the club’s future.
