Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool spell (2014–2016) is remembered as a high-profile misfit rather than a redemption story. Signed after Luis Suárez left, he never really fit Rodgers’ intense pressing and quick combinations, often looking isolated and short on rhythm. Injuries and confidence issues didn’t help, and the goals never came in volume. He scored 4 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions, with his most notable moment a late winner against Tottenham in the Europa League at Anfield. After one season he was loaned back to AC Milan, and he left permanently in 2016. Big name, small impact—one of the era’s forgettable Liverpool signings.
