Riyad Mahrez produced one of the defining performances of Leicester City’s 2015–16 title season in the 3–1 win at Manchester City on 6 February 2016. In a first-versus-second showdown at the Etihad, he helped create the opening goal with the free-kick that led to Robert Huth’s early strike, then scored Leicester’s second himself with a brilliant solo finish just after half-time. Mahrez’s mix of composure, close control, and direct running made City’s defence look stretched all afternoon, and the result sent Leicester six points clear at the top. It felt like the day their title challenge became truly believable.
