Muzzy Izzet was one of the key players in Leicester City’s strong Martin O’Neill era of the late 1990s and early 2000s. After joining on loan from Chelsea in March 1996, he helped Leicester win promotion that season and then made the move permanent. He went on to make 319 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 47 goals, which places him among Leicester’s notable modern servants. As an energetic, technically sharp midfielder, he added creativity as well as work rate, and he was part of the teams that won the League Cup in 1997 and 2000, while also reaching the 1999 final.
