Mark Viduka was Leeds United’s big-game No.9 in the early 2000s. Signed in 2000 for about £6m, the powerful Australian quickly became the main finisher in a side still mixing it near the top end of the Premier League and in Europe. His most famous Leeds moment is legendary: four goals in a 4–3 win over Liverpool at Elland Road in 2000. He also hit 22 goals in both 2000–01 and 2002–03, and scored a crucial late winner at Arsenal in 2003 that virtually kept Leeds up. He left in 2004 as the club’s finances unravelled.
