Jim Jefferies managed Kilmarnock from 28 February 2002 to 11 January 2010, working alongside assistant Billy Brown. He kept Killie competitive on a tight budget, and by 2008 he was the longest-serving SPL manager, signing an extension that would have taken him to 2012. The standout run was 2006–07, when Killie reached the Scottish League Cup Final at Hampden—ultimately losing 5–1 to Hibernian on 18 March 2007. Jefferies left “by mutual consent” in January 2010 with the club near the bottom of the SPL.
