Derek Riordan was one of the most naturally gifted forwards of Hibernian’s modern era. An Edinburgh-born striker, he came through the club’s youth system and played in two spells at Easter Road, from 2001 to 2006 and again from 2008 to 2011. Across those spells, he scored 104 goals in 260 appearances for Hibs, making him one of the club’s leading scorers in the modern game. He was Hibs’ top scorer in three straight seasons before joining Celtic, and in 2005 won both the PFA Scotland and SFWA young player of the year awards.
