Arthur Duncan was one of Hibernian’s great wide men and a key figure in the club’s strong 1970s side. A left winger signed from Partick Thistle in 1969, he gave Hibs pace, direct running and quality delivery, and went on to make a record 449 league appearances for the club, scoring 73 goals. He was part of Eddie Turnbull’s “Turnbull’s Tornadoes” team that won the 1972 League Cup and challenged strongly in the league. His most famous individual display came in the 7–0 derby win over Hearts on 1 January 1973, when he scored twice.
