Hibernian won the 2016–17 Scottish Championship, securing promotion back to the top flight after three seasons. Managed by Neil Lennon, Hibs dominated the league, finishing with 71 points and scoring 85 goals. Key players included Jason Cummings, the league’s top scorer with 19 goals, alongside John McGinn, whose energy and leadership drove the team. The title was clinched on 15 April 2017 with a 3–0 win over Queen of the South at Easter Road, sparking a pitch invasion as Hibs returned to the Scottish Premiership.
