Eric Cantona’s France career is a classic “what if.” He won 45 caps and scored 20 goals for Les Bleus between 1987 and 1995, often playing as a creative forward rather than a pure No.9. He captained France under Aimé Jacquet and was meant to be the face of the team heading toward Euro 96. But after his January 1995 “kung-fu kick” incident and lengthy ban, he never played for France again, and was left out of the Euro 96 squad—opening the door for a new era.
