Steven Pienaar’s Everton spell was defined by slick left-side craft and pure fans’ favourite energy. Arriving on loan from Borussia Dortmund in 2007, he made the move permanent in 2008 and became a key cog in David Moyes’ best Premier League years—pressing, carrying the ball, and combining brilliantly with Leighton Baines. He played as a wide playmaker, drifting inside to knit attacks together, and helped drive the 2009 FA Cup final run. A 2011 switch to Tottenham Hotspur didn’t stick, and he returned on loan in 2012 before re-signing permanently. South Africa national football team trusted him as a senior international leader.
