John Stones has been a mainstay of England’s back line since debuting on 30 May 2014. As of 17 Nov 2025, he has 87 caps and 3 goals. He’s been selected for major tournaments including World Cups (2018, 2022) and Euros (2016, 2020, 2024). A signature moment was scoring twice vs Panama at the 2018 World Cup. Tactically, Stones’ value is his calm, technical distribution and ability to step into midfield during build-up, fitting England’s possession-based structure under Gareth Southgate.
