Jermain Defoe played for England from 2004 to 2017, earning 57 caps and scoring 20 goals. Used mainly as an impact striker, he offered sharp movement off the shoulder, quick finishing, and penalty-box instincts rather than all-round link play. His standout England moment was scoring 16 seconds into a friendly against Trinidad & Tobago in 2014 (one of England’s fastest goals). He went to major tournaments including the 2010 World Cup (scoring against Slovenia) and Euro 2016, and later became a senior figure in the squad, notably returning in 2017.
