Kevin Keegan for England was energy, charisma, and slightly frustrated greatness. He won 63 caps, scored 21 goals, and captained the side 31 times between 1972 and 1982, which shows how central he became. At his best, he gave England drive as much as skill: sharp movement, brave running, and the personality to lift the team emotionally. He was not a cold, detached star; he played with urgency and visible belief. The bittersweet part is that England missed the 1974 and 1978 World Cups, and by 1982 he reached the tournament carrying injury problems, so his international story never quite got the stage his talent deserved. So Keegan’s England legacy is major but slightly incomplete: a huge figure, a real captain, and one of the national team’s most forceful personalities.
