Ian Wright is one of Crystal Palace’s greatest-ever players. Palace’s official site says he scored 117 goals in 277 appearances, making him one of the club’s most important post-war forwards. He joined from non-league football in 1985 and became the star of the side that won promotion in 1989, reached the 1990 FA Cup Final, and finished third in the top flight in 1990–91. He was famous for explosive pace, sharp finishing, and big-match goals, including his dramatic brace in the 1990 FA Cup Final against Manchester United. He remains one of the defining figures in Palace history.
