Joel Ward was one of Crystal Palace’s most important modern defenders. He joined from Portsmouth in 2012 and became a model of consistency, versatility, and professionalism across 13 years at Selhurst Park. Palace’s official announcement on his departure said he played a key role throughout the club’s longest top-flight spell, while outside records note he left with more than 360 appearances and the most Premier League appearances of any Palace player. He also captained the club in 2023–24 and was part of the squad that won the 2025 FA Cup before leaving in summer 2025.
